It was during 1997 Asian Financial Crisis that I made the bold move to join the Insurance Industry. There was no looking back ever since. I faced many obstacles transiting from Banker to Advisor and I am grateful for supportive clients who have given me the opportunity to partner with them in their financial planning journey. I embrace life with an attitude of excellence and firmly believe that success is by design. Other than the mentors who have guided me, I am thankful for the many veterans ahead of me who have penned down their greatest lessons in books – which has brought me to where I am today. I joined AIA as an Undergraduate FSC when I was 21 to earn more pocket money. I used to be quiet and reserved until I started gaining confidence through the business. Instead of pursuing my course of study of Engineering upon graduation, I continued my line of financial work. Under the guidance of my Director, Winnie, and with support from my wife, Fran, I became a Manager, and was eventually promoted to Associate Director. I lead a team of consultants, mostly from similar backgrounds as me. Even as a manager, I serve my clients and ensure they never walk alone in their financial planning journey. I was an undergraduate when I first joined AIA as an FSC as a way of earning extra allowance. However, over the years, I found a sense of belonging to Win Financial and a burning passion for the career. I was formerly a Guards Officer before I made a career switch in 1995 to become an AIA FSC. I was formerly a self-employed franchisor and retailer at outlets in Singapore and China. As a mother of two, however, I wanted to spend more time with my family in Singapore. After my ORD, I was doing part time sales in Grab till I received a call for an interview as a Financial Advisor. I am always keen to do sales as the remuneration is pegged to the results. However, doing insurance sales has never come to my mind. I was intrigued by the financial services business after the first session in Win Financial’s Office. Witnessing the growth and job satisfaction my cousin attained after she did a career switch from auditor to advisor, I was inspired to have a taste of the work by joining the Varsity Entrepreneur Internship (VEIN) Program under her Group.
